Some people find it extremely
difficult to access the symbols and images of the right
brain; they are much more comfortable with the words and
logical explanations of the left brain. To access a feeling,
to understand its significance, to dismantle old connections
and allow new learning to occur, requires a combination
of both the right and the left brain.

Healing involves release of the old, and transformation
of that which no longer serves us, so that new connections can
be made within the mind, body and energy system.
When the body, mind and heart unite, a powerful healing may
result. Working through pain in a loving environment enables
the body to express itself, the mind comes to a conscious awareness
of the root of the pain, and the heart allows compassion and
forgiveness to replace that pain with love.
Some people, although they may not have experienced anything
particularly dramatic during the class, begin to be aware later
that things are shifting, that they are more sensitive to the
energy, or that they feel more peaceful and forgiving towards
themselves.
Teresa: ‘Every workshop is different. And every person
is different, in how he or she responds to the energy. There
is no need to compare or compete – each person is on his
own individual path, and what happens will be exactly what he
or she needs to happen at that time. The SKHM energy is very
powerful; it brings an incredible sense of joy and harmony,
an inner knowing that there is some loving force outside of
you, that connects you to the universe – and to others.
Just to feel it – with or without an initiation - is the
beginning of a wonderful and exciting new journey of discovery.’
Not everyone experiences an initiation in the first workshop
they attend. For some, it takes time for the energy to fully
integrate into their energy system and body.
Pedro: ‘I think that both those who didn’t experience
an initiation, and those who did, have received a wonderful
gift. I know that SKHM has changed some people’s lives,
and I know that it will also change our lives as well. Now we
have to work, but I feel so fortunate, it’s as if I’ve
won the lottery – I only have to dare to pick up the prize.
But it’s there waiting until I’m ready. And Patrick,
along with Michael and the group, have showed me how to get
it. It’s free and marvellous, I know.’
Many people report that their lives have changed as a result
of the workshop.
Teresa A.A.: ‘I have been waiting for this SKHM workshop
for some time because I knew perfectly well that my life was
going to change after it. I knew that I wasn’t completely
grounded on the Earth. In some way I was still floating on the
higher levels. It has helped me to ground myself in order to
do the work that I have to do. I have come to do something but
I couldn’t collect myself, root myself sufficiently to
gain the strength, the courage and the bravery to do what I
had come to do. I felt really good. I felt the energy flowing
through my body, channelling it. I felt complete in this moment.’
Katja: ‘This workshop definitively changed my life.
It gave me the opportunity to come in contact with my deeper
emotions, and to experience a love I had never felt before;
to love and accept myself, to recognise my own value, and to
work out emotional blocks for myself. ALL LOVE.’
The energy shifts things in the emotional, physical and energetic
systems. Emotions are released, both during the workshop and
afterwards, and painful memories, images and feelings may emerge
over a period of time.
Many people describe feeling very happy and positive following
the workshop, but negative feelings also arise. People continue
to process these emotions afterwards and they may need support
during this time.
Following a workshop, when emotions surface, it is important
to allow yourself to grieve, or cry, or express that pain in
whatever way you need to. You can open yourself to the energy
whenever you need to, and at other times, when it flows spontaneously,
you can put your hands on the parts of your body which are causing
you discomfort, or send the energy to the cause of that distress,
using intent and the power of the mind to focus the energy.

It is also important that teachers are available
to help. Michael recommends that they provide some form of support,
including for people who have spontaneous initiations outside
the workshop, as some people find that when recounting their
experiences to friends or family, both they themselves and the
listeners feel the SKHM energy. Just telling others about the
workshop can lead to a sudden surfacing of suppressed emotions,
and has lead people who have not attended the workshop to experience
spontaneous initiations.
Teresa: ‘Graham and I both learned an enormous amount
from the workshop. In recent times, Patrick has established
a training program, and there is a set of requirements for becoming
a SKHM teacher. Patrick uses a variety of powerful techniques
for emotional release – such as sound healing, conscious
breathing, focusing into the body, and inner child work - and
he is keen that teachers learn how to use these techniques effectively.
Which I fully support.
It is of course wonderful when a person experiences the energy
and feels good. But SKHM can release some very powerful emotions;
sooner or later the energy will hit a block, and the teacher
needs to know how to guide a person through these difficult
and painful emotions. Merely to access painful feelings without
helping a person through the emotional work that’s necessary
in order to truly transform that pain may simply re-traumatise
that person and leave him or her feeling worse than before.
Which to my mind is inexcusable.
Becoming a SKHM teacher is a big responsibility, and it’s
not all just about feeling wonderful! Emotional healing is not
a one-off, it’s an ongoing process, and it involves a
lot of hard work.’
Graham: ‘There was a lot of work involved in organising
the workshop, and in follow-up afterwards with emails, phone
calls, and meditations. The organisation of the venue was a
problem in that many of the hotels we approached were not keen
on the idea of chanting, crying or shouting! In fact, the Hotel
Best Benalmadena was a perfect spot, overlooking the sea, and
the staff were most tolerant and helpful, providing food and
a discount on rooms for people attending the workshop.
Although Michael had told us that advertising was not usually
very successful, as SKHM spreads best through word of mouth,
we felt we had to do it anyway. We placed adverts in a local
paper and alternative health magazine, distributed 1,000 flyers,
and spoke about it on the local radio and television, all of
which in fact produced very few results! Until now, SKHM has
simply not been known in Spain. But that is changing! Now that
Patrick and Michael have introduced SKHM to Spain, I feel that
it will really take off here.’
Many thanks to:
Patrick and Michael for making it all possible.
Marcus Vinnicombe, who recorded the Spanish version of the Shenu
meditation.
All who attended the workshop, and who gave permission to print
their comments about their experiences.
